The Ei168RC RadioLINK Base is a mains-powered interconnection solution that eliminates the need for hardwired connections between your fire and smoke alarms. Using Radio Frequency (RF) signals, it wirelessly links alarms together—interconnecting alarms is vital so occupants can hear the alarm throughout the property and is required in British Standard BS 5839-6:2019+A1:2020.

Reliable Coverage With Mesh Network Technology

The RadioLINK wireless interconnection uses a mesh system so all alarms speak to each other with multiple paths for the activation signal to travel through, ensuring every alarm receives the signal and sounds to give warning of a detection. This architecture means your home benefits from redundant communication pathways, so even if one signal path is blocked, others remain active. The RF signal has a range of 100m with clear line of sight and 30m in a standard property, and RF signals won't be affected by Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or mobile interference.

The Ei168RC features mains-powered operation with an integrated rechargeable lithium cell backup. This dual-power approach means your alarm system continues to protect your home even during power outages—a critical feature since when power loss occurs, backup batteries automatically kick in to operate sensors and alarms, ensuring continuous protection during power outages and interruptions.

Installation Advantages Over Traditional Hardwiring

Wireless interconnection eliminates tricky wiring runs, saves time at installation, reduces mess and disruption during installation, saves money, and makes it easier to add in new alarms and accessories. While mains power still needs to be connected to the base, this can be simplified—mains powered alarms can be wired from the nearest ceiling light, keeping disruption to a minimum.

Flexible System Expansion – New or Retrofit

The RadioLINK base is compatible with 140e Series alarms – Ei146e and Ei144e. If setting up a new alarm system, using RadioLINK bases across all alarms is recommended, but if you already have a hard-wired system it's easy to add in RadioLINK alarms, creating a hybrid system. This flexibility means you can upgrade existing installations without replacing your entire alarm network.

Completely unique RF codes are used with over 16.7 million different codes possible, making the likelihood of alarms being triggered by another system close to zero. Each system gets its own unique identification, so interference from neighboring properties is virtually impossible.
